Joe Strummer #2

So we went to the tribute concert at Irving Plaza last night. It was Fucking Great. Jesse Malin was really good as were all the groups except for one. There was this band who's name I can't remember at the moment who really sucked. The music was pretty good but the lead singer was a total douche. He was reading the lyrics from a piece of paper and he obviously had no respect for the whole event or the songs for that matter. Then the band played two of their own songs which would have been fine but they were shit. They then went into Spanish Bombs and the lead singer proceded to masacre that song as well while reading off of the paper he had taped to his mic stand. Well at that point the crowd had enough. You could feel the tension in the air. Suddenly a guy jumped up on stage and looked like he was going to stage dive or something. He did'nt stage dive, He decided to punch the lead singer in the fucking face. When the lead singer hit the ground the guy pounded on him some more. Security grabbed him and pulled him off. And of course the bands set of songs had quickly ended. I am not a violent guy and I don't want to say that the guy had it coming to him because I just don't believe in violence as a means of showing disaproval but, I wasn't suprised by it at all. It was like we were all waiting for someone to go and knock that fucker out. It was pretty funny. I mean the guy was pretty much blatently direspectful on stage, and Clash fans or Strummer fans are very passionate about thier love of the music and the man. Not a wise choice for that fucking idiot to destroy some great songs. It really sucked for me because they started with "Strait To Hell" which to me is like the mother of all clash tunes. This guy fucking murdered it. But all in all it was a great show. all the other artists really got the whole spirit of the thing. Strummer was probably looking down and shouting "Simmer down, Control your Temper!".

Naturally I have been listening to all my old clash albums all day long. What a great fucking Band they were. They totally inspire me to write. So thats what I am going to do. Look out telecaster.....Here I come!

So in the words of Joe "THE FUTURE IS UNWRITTEN"
