Nice Long Weekend!

This past weekend we went to maine to visit my folks. they have recently had a house built there and moved back up to maine. We left friday morning and came home on Monday night. It was sort of a mini vacation. Boy did I need that. My Dad as you may know from reading my diary is a movie buff. He had a home theater put in his basement. It's probably the coolest thing I have ever seen in someones house. He really went all out. It has all the essentials. Genuine theater seats(12 of them), a lobby with a popcorn machine, A huge screen(it's like eight feet wide), a killer sound system (when you go outside you can actually feel the ground shake under you're feet),it's video/dvd/cable tv/16mm film compatible. You can pretty much watch anything you want in there. He had a projection booth built behind it so he could show his 16mm films(he has a huge collection of 16mm films). i took up some of my favorite dvds and watched them in there. I put on the U2 elevation tour dvd and cranked it up. It was like being at the fucking concert. The sound system is so sweet. You can crank it up and the sound does'nt distort in the least. Now I know what I want for christmas. Yeah right. I can't even begin to imagine what he spent on having all that put in. I mean a month ago the basement was totally bare. No sheet rock or anything. Shit the ceiling mounted video projector was 6 grand alone. he's been saving his pennys for a very long time to do something like that. Happy retirement Dad. That fucking theater is so cool that even my mother is into it. She could give two shits about movies and sound and what not but she was down there all weekend watching stuff with us. My oldest son was all over that shit. He loves watching movies. he particularly likes Harry potter movies so he watched them on Saturday down there and didn't budge the whole time.

Now I work and have worked at movie theaters for the past twenty years and I would much rather go down there and watch a movie. Good Job Dad! You Rock!

On the lighter side, we went and did the usual stuff like go to L.L. Bean in freeport and look at all the stuffed animals and live fish ponds in the store. We went to the Portland Head Light and hung around for a while because the weather was so nice. All in all it was a nice relaxing weekend. The kids had a blast with the grandparents and so did we. I really miss them now that they are so far away. It's only a six hour drive so I guess it could be worse.

Well thats all for now, I know I know, pretty boring entry but when your life consists of work and more work a simple little long weekend is like the greatest thing in the world.

Later,ROB
