Nice Weekend!
This past weekend the wife and I went to her cousin Kahras wedding in Mass. about twenty minutes outside of Boston. We dropped the kids off at my folks house on thursday in Portland Maine and took the 2 hour trip back down to Boston on Friday morning. We stayed in a room with her brother and his wife and we had a blast. On friday a bunch of us got a limo and hit Boston for a night of dining and drinking. It was nice to get out and do the town. We went to a restaurant called
Maggiano's. It was suggested by one of the cousins. Now you have to understand this guy, he is like 24 and his Dad is the CEO of stop and shop so the kid has all the money he wants and he is a total poser. Not that the restaurant was expensive, it was actually quite reasonable as far as the food went. And the food was great but asshole had to try and impress everyone by chosing wine for everyone. there were seven of us and he had magnums of wine coming at all times. The bill came to like 750 bucks. I almost shit at the table when they said "O.K. you and laurie owe Two hundred dollars plus tip". Now I don't mind going out and dropping some hard earned cash but for crying out loud, I'm not impressed by wine. I'm happy with a glass or two and thats fine. Give me a guiness any day. Not the best choice with Italian cuisine but what the fuck. We weren't in Italy we were in fucking Boston. Not that that would matter anyway. We made the best of it and had a great time just talking and what not. Then we decided to go somewhere for after dinner drinks. I'm partial to a nice quiet pub with a jukebox full of great tunes. So what does poser boy do? He takes us to the
Bristol Lounge at the posh Four Seasons Hotel. I don't know why we even went in, I mean no one even said anything. I guess they didn't want to hurt his feeling by telling him what a poser he is. Then I chimed in with my truthfull and sometimes embarrasing banter. I said " what the fuck are we doing here, I left my american express black card in my smoking jacket". I mean this place was loaded with big money. People were blowing their noses with hunreds and farting out fifties. Just big money everywhere. They say money changes you but do me a favor, if I ever hit the jackpot and end up hanging out in places like that, take a fifteen pound sledge hammer and ram it up my ass please. When I said "what are we doing here" that was everyones way out. Suddenly everyone was like "yeah ...Let's get out of here". Pussies!!!! So for fear of ending up at the fortune five hundred cocktail hour, I suggested that we call it a night. We went back to the
Radisson where we were staying and went to the bar there. It was full of friends and family and we all got hammered and had a great time. Now thats what going out is about to me. It doesn't make me feel important or cool to go to the elite place. It just isn't what I'm about. The amount of money you have or spend doesn't mean shit to me. I'm all about the company I'm with. Friends, Family, You can't buy that. The reception was on Saturday at this CEO's,very beautiful, have to make a ton of money to be a member,
country club. It was actually very nice. I enjoyed the night with my wife and her family. My one brother-in-law is a total ball buster so it was really fun. I'll give you an example. Ther were a ton of people from Boston there being that the groom is from Boston so naturally there were a ton of Red Sox fans there. My brother-in-law being the ball buster that he is goes over to the DJ(who is also a sox fan ) and requests New York New York. When the song is played he grabs everyone from our area (New York/ New Jersey) and starts a chorus line. We were all screaming the words and high kicking. At the end of the song he yells out "Boston Sucks!! Wooo Hoooo!!!" The sox fans were a little tiffed if you know what I mean to say the least and luckily no fights broke out. It was all in good fun.
Sunday we went back to Maine and hung with my folks for the day and then headed home on Monday. All in all it was a great weekend.
Now I must return to work. Hope everyone is well.
later,ROB
